The CAPF Exam is divided into two main papers:

1. Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence

• Type: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
• Total Marks: 250
• Duration: 2 hours
• Topics Covered: General Mental Ability, General Science, Current Events (National and International), Indian Polity & Economy, History of India, Indian & World Geography.

2. Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension

• Type: Descriptive (Essay and Language Skills)
• Total Marks: 200
• Duration: 3 hours
• Sections:
  • Part A: Essay writing on topics such as Indian history, geography, polity, economy, and security & human rights issues (80 marks).
  • Part B: Comprehension, précis writing, and language skills, including grammar and argument development (120 marks). This part is to be attempted in English only.

Exam Levels and Approach

The CAPF Exam is highly competitive, requiring both mental aptitude and language proficiency. The exam pattern tests not only the candidate’s knowledge but also their ability to apply logical reasoning, analytical skills, and effective communication.

• Paper I evaluates mental sharpness and knowledge on a wide range of topics, demanding quick thinking and speed to tackle quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and current affairs in a short time.

• History of India: Emphasis on social, economic, and political aspects of Indian history, including the freedom struggle and growth of nationalism.

2. Paper II: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension

• Part-A (Essay Writing):
  • Writing practice on topics such as modern Indian history, economy, geography, security, and human rights.
